Brittaney Delsarté Chatman
Brittaney Delsarté Chatman is a Southern-born, New York-based multi-hyphenate artist, blending the worlds of music, storytelling, and performance with a bold, authentic voice. As a singer-songwriter and creative producer, she infuses her work with the richness of her South Carolina roots and the polish of her media career, crafting art that is both intimate and impactful. Her debut EP, Call Me Blossom, and her self-produced Tiny Apartment Concert showcase her ability to merge vulnerability, cultural commentary, and visual storytelling. Brittaney’s artistry is fueled by a commitment to owning her narrative, championing women’s voices, and creating spaces for joy, healing, and empowerment. She brings her audience into her world with every note, every frame, and every story she tells.

Indigo Mak is a soulful singer-songwriter whose music blends vulnerability, strength, and spirit. She introduces a sultry, timeless sound with messages that heal the soul.

Joel Phillips
Professor Emeritus of Music Composition and Theory, Joel Phillips taught at Westminster Choir College for 39 years. He is recipient of Rider University’s Distinguished Teaching Award and co-author of several textbooks in W. W. Norton’s Musician’s Guide series, including The Musician’s Guide to Fundamentals, now the mostly widely used musical text in its market. A Board member of the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, Phillips gives the pre-concert lectures at the War Memorial. His crowning achievement was winning the 2015 Grand Prize Winner of the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest [https://www.bulwer-lytton.com/2015], an international competition that selects from among thousands of entries the proposed opening sentence to the worst of all possible novels.

Alexander "internetsteph" Haupa
I am a music artist under the name internetsteph. I started this project as a way to fulfill a side of me that felt neglected in my typical day to day. In the process i feel like i have created an alter ego and a sort of idilic dream world with hazy aesthetics in which Steph now lives in. This an ongoing project as I continue to try and find ways to further bring these ideas into a tangible form. My instagram @internetsteph shows the visual side of the project.

Christianne Bessières Lane
I am a musician who has been living and working as a piano teacher and composer in Hamilton, NJ for 20 years. Lately, I have been dedicated to giving back to my community by way of a musical and spiritual practice of crafting and recording rounds of comfort and joy for others using texts that are meaningful to them. I have degrees in music from Indiana University, Bloomington and Westminster Choir College.

Onarai Williams
My name is Onarai Williams and I am a singer/songwriter originally from Brooklyn, NY and currently residing in New Jersey. I love making music and have written and recorded over 100 songs! It is awesome to see how the 120 East State Project is beginning to revitalize Trenton, New Jersey and I am happy to be a part of it all through the wonderful performing arts.

Bradd Marquis Jackson is a dynamic artist with over 16 years of experience as a singer, songwriter, musical theatre actor, event and podcast host, and brand influencer. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Bradd grew up immersed in the soulful sounds of legends like Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and Donny Hathaway—artists who have profoundly shaped his music and career. Bradd runs SOULMAN Media Group, a full-service integrated marketing provider that harnesses innovative creativity and data-driven content marketing strategies.

Taylor Pickett-Stokes
Taylor Pickett-Stokes, affectionately known as Tee Soul, works by day as a Freedom Planner at Mercer County Correctional Center. By night, she pours her heart into acting, singing, directing, and performing live with her band under Mo Bass Entertainment.
Her stage credits include Memphis, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Radio Golf, Fences, RENT, The Colored Museum, The Tempest, A Beautiful Thing, Funnyhouse of a Negro, and her NYC off-Broadway debut in Alice and the Bunny Hole and most recent work, Black Girl Magic, with Underground Performing Arts Center in Norfolk, VA.

Alicia N. Brozovich is a conductor and soprano who sings with the New York Philharmonic Chorus and founded The Lotus Project, a performing arts nonprofit in Trenton, NJ. She has led musicians on stages from community spaces to concert halls, always aiming to make music inspiring and accessible. Alicia is passionate about helping performers find their authentic voice and bringing people together through powerful artistic experiences.

Nora Flamer
Nora is a rising recording artist whose journey began with an early love for music, inspired by the artistry of Michael Jackson. After years of honing her craft through singing, dancing, and intensive artist development training in New Zealand, she has emerged with a distinct sound and vision. Investing thousands of dollars into her own career, Nora has already produced original music and built the foundation of her brand as a fearless, authentic performer. Paul Zych
Paul Zych grew up in Milwaukee, WI, where Paul played clarinet, tenor saxophone and flute throughout grade school and high school. Today, he seeks out and enjoys live music performances across all genres. In 2024, Paul started a non-profit Trenton Music Experience, formed to bring a museum to Trenton that will Honor, Educate and Celebrate music influencers from Trenton and New Jersey and their accomplishments.

Joel A. Smith
Joel A. Smith is a seasoned professional in the music industry with over three decades of experience as a keyboardist, producer, composer, educator, and consultant. Joel’s journey has seen him wear many hats, including a remarkable four-year stint as a Musical Director with Philadelphia International Records. During this time, he toured both domestically and internationally, sharing stages and studios with iconic artists like Alicia Keys, Jesse Powell, Tank, Morris Day and the Time, Sarah Dash, and Kirk Franklin.

Sam Kanig
Sam Kanig is the Executive Director of Casa Cultura, a Latino arts and culture center in Trenton, NJ. He is also a community organizer and digital storyteller. Sam serves as a Program Coordinator at The College of New Jersey’s Center for Community Engagement, where he helps lead initiatives that connect students with community-based work. Additionally, he is a Commissioner on both the New Jersey Puerto Rico Commission and the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission.

Vocal or instrumental, new music or previously published, in any genre or style – submit your entry, and let 120 East State share your music with the world!
This document describes the official requirements and rules of 120 East State’s Music Contest.
By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these contest rules.
- 120 East State reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any entrant whose work fails to comply with the above provisions, and any subsequent provisions adopted by 120 East State in order to fairly conduct this contest.
- Contestants must submit address, email, and phone number with submissions. Failure to include information may lead to disqualification.
- Applications must be signed. Signing the application reflects the applicant’s agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of the contest.
- If copyright infringement issues happen for any reason, 120 East State reserves the right to remove the entry from the contest. Entrants will be notified by email should this occur.
The entry must meet all of the following criteria:
- Audience: all-ages appropriate; contains no profanity, explicit content, hate speech, offensive language or imagery.
- Length: up to 3 minutes.
- All melodies and any lyrics must be fully original to the entrant.
- If music includes lyrics, text of lyrics must be supplied with entry.
- Music must be submitted via .mp3 format via SoundCloud link.
Three prizes will be awarded:
- People’s Choice Award, chosen by popular acclaim
- Board’s Choice Award, chosen by 120 East State board
- Artists’ Choice Award, chosen by a panel of Trenton artists.
- To be eligible, entrants must have a residential address of Trenton or Greater Trenton, defined as Ewing, Hamilton, and Lawrence Townships.
- Entrants under the age of 18 must submit the parent/guardian permission form.

- Entrants must be able to submit their music in .mp3 format via SoundCloud link.
- Submissions must be made through the online submission process during the application window, between Wednesday, June 4 , 2025 and Monday, September 1, 2025
- Lyrics and melody must be fully original work of the entrants; entrants must represent that the video does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and that it does not violate any copyright. (See Submission Requirements)
- Submissions must be in .mp3 format via Soundcloud link.
- Submissions with lyrics must submit text of lyrics.
- Each entrant may only submit one entry.
- Winner of the People’s Choice Award will be selected by a community vote. Community voting will occur from September 7, 2025 – September 12, 2025.
- Winner of the Artists’ Choice Award will be determined solely by a panel of judges selected by the 120 East State Board of Directors.
- Winner of the Board’s Choice Award will be determined solely by the 120 East State Board of Directors.
- By submitting, entrant provides 120 East State with consent to publish work on 120 East State’s communications channels, including website, email, and social media profiles owned by the organization, for contest purposes and public listening after the contest.
- Winning entrants consent to allow 120 East State to post work on 120 East State’s digital channels and platforms and to allow 120 East State to publicize their participation in the contest.
- All participants are invited to attend the Artists’ Reception/Public Listening Event on Sunday, September 7, from 4-6pm.
- Winners will be announced at the award ceremony on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 3pm. Official award ceremony details will be announced via email no later than August 24, 2025.
- Winning entrants in each category will be notified via email on September 19, 2025.
- First place prizes will be:
- People’s Choice Award: $1,000
- Board’s Choice Award: $1,000
- Artists’ Choice Award: $1,000
- 120 East State will recognize second and third place runners up at the awards ceremony on September 20, and will feature their entries on the 120 East State’s website.
- Contact information provided by participants will be added to 120 East State’s contact database.
- Any personal information collected will only be used for the purposes of conducting this video contest. 120 East State will not sell or share any personal information with any third parties.
- 120 East State is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or otherwise unusable entries, including entries that are lost or unusable due to computer, internet, or electronic problems.
- Failure to submit a signed, completed application is grounds for disqualification. Entrants under 18 must have their parent or guardians sign their application. Failure to have a parent or guardian sign the application is grounds for disqualification.
